The Red Chair Affair A benefit for the restoration of the Orpheum Theatre
It’s time to honor the chair and paint the town red — all in the same night. The Red Chair Affair is a benefit for the Orpheum Theatre where chairs of all shapes and sizes will be on display and available for bid. Featuring hand-crafted chairs designed by local artists, the Red Chair Affair is an evening of food, drink, fashion, art, music and festivity. The event culminates in a live auction, door prizes and much more — making this an affair to remember!

Entry Information
To participate in this event, just decorate a chair and donate it to the theatre. No, it doesn’t have to be red. Your donation will be auctioned to the highest bidder the evening of the event. We will accept almost any art form, however the Orpheum Theatre reserves the right to refuse any chair at our discretion.
Let your imagination run wild and your creativity explode. We are looking for big chairs, little chairs, miniature chairs, chairs which have been painted, upholstered, sculpted, new, used or made from parts and pieces of other chairs. We are even looking for photographers to submit interesting pictures of chairs. The chairs can be themed — K-State chair, Shocker chair, garden chair, musical chair, sportsman chair — you get the idea!
Registration forms are available at the Theatre — call (316) 263-0884 or register online. Registrations are due by August 30, 2010 and the chairs must be delivered by September 11, 2010 to the Orpheum Theatre office at:
200 N. Broadway, Suite 102,
Wichita, Kan.
Chair Preview
During Final Friday Gallery Crawl, September 24, a selection of chairs will be previewed at the Orpheum Theatre. How fun will this be — Final Friday, hors d’oeuvres, wine and one-of-a-kind chairs on display.
Awards
Awards will be presented to top-designed chairs in selected classifications determined by the judges the night of the event. A panel of judges and a People’s Choice Award will determine winners.
Donation of the chair is tax deductible with the amount determined by the artist. Upon delivery, the chair becomes the sole property of the Orpheum Performing Arts Center, Ltd. All chairs will be auctioned to the highest bidder the evening of the event.
The money raised from this benefit will assist with the continued restoration and operation of the magnificent Orpheum Theatre.
